Terms of Service

These Terms of Service apply to purchases made through the Amberley Jewellers website.

Amberley Jewellers is the trading name of Lionel Webb, sole trader, trading from 10/11 Marsh Parade, Hythe, Hampshire, SO45 6AN.

VAT Registration Number: GB 615 2082 71

By placing an order through our website, you agree to these Terms of Service. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

1. About Our Products

We sell new and pre-owned jewellery and watches. We make every reasonable effort to ensure that product descriptions, photographs, measurements and other information shown on our website are accurate.

Due to differences between screens and devices, colours and appearance may vary slightly from photographs shown online.

Pre-owned jewellery may have characteristics consistent with its age and history. Any significant features or condition information known to us will be described as accurately as reasonably possible.

2. Prices

All prices displayed on our website are in pounds sterling (£) and include VAT where applicable.

Prices may change from time to time, but any change will not affect an order that we have already accepted.

Prices shown on our website may differ from prices for the same or similar items offered through third-party marketplaces.

Any applicable delivery charges will be shown before you complete your order.

3. Placing an Order

When you place an order through our website, you are making an offer to purchase the item.

You will receive an order confirmation after placing your order. We reserve the right not to accept an order where there is a genuine reason to do so, including where an item is no longer available, there has been an obvious pricing or description error, or we are unable to obtain authorisation for payment.

Many of our pieces, particularly pre-owned jewellery, are unique or one-off items and may also be available in our physical shop. In the unlikely event that an item becomes unavailable before we are able to accept your online order, we will contact you promptly and refund any payment already taken.

4. Payment

Payment must be made using one of the payment methods offered at checkout.

You must provide accurate billing, delivery and contact information when placing an order.

For security and fraud-prevention purposes, we may carry out reasonable checks before accepting or dispatching an order. If we need further information from you, we will contact you using the details supplied with your order.

5. Delivery

Our available delivery methods, charges and estimated delivery times will be explained during checkout and/or in our Shipping Policy.

Unless a different delivery period has been agreed with you, goods will be delivered within the period required by applicable consumer law.

Jewellery remains at our risk until it comes into your physical possession, or the physical possession of a person you have identified to receive it, except where the law provides otherwise.

Please check that the delivery information supplied with your order is complete and accurate.

6. Returns, Cancellations & Refunds

Your rights to cancel an online order and return an item are explained in our Refund & Returns Policy.

For eligible online returns, please contact Amberley Jewellers before sending jewellery back so that we can arrange the appropriate secure return method.

Nothing in these Terms or our Refund & Returns Policy affects your statutory rights in relation to faulty, damaged or misdescribed goods.

7. Ring Sizing, Alterations & Personalisation

Where ring sizing, engraving or another alteration is requested, we will explain any relevant charges before the work is carried out.

Some goods that are made to your specification or clearly personalised may not qualify for the usual change-of-mind cancellation right. Where this applies, we will make this clear before carrying out the work.

Your statutory rights in relation to faulty or misdescribed goods are not affected.

8. Certificates & Documentation

Where a certificate, valuation document or other documentation forms part of a product, this will be supplied with the item where stated in the product description.

Customers returning an item should also return any certificate, presentation box or documentation supplied with it, in accordance with our Refund & Returns Policy.

9. Faulty or Misdescribed Goods

Goods supplied by Amberley Jewellers must meet the standards required by UK consumer law, including being as described, of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose where applicable.

If you believe an item is faulty, damaged or not as described, please contact us as soon as possible.

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes any rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded.

10. Website Information & Availability

We take reasonable care to keep the information on our website accurate and up to date.

Occasionally, errors may occur in product descriptions, prices or availability. If we discover an error affecting an order you have placed, we will contact you as soon as reasonably possible and explain the options available.

We may update, remove or change website content and product availability from time to time.

11. Intellectual Property

The content of the Amberley Jewellers website, including our branding, text, photographs, graphics and other original material, belongs to Amberley Jewellers or is used with the permission of the relevant rights holder.

Website content must not be reproduced or used for commercial purposes without permission, except where permitted by law.

12. Shopify & Third-Party Services

Our online store is hosted by Shopify, which provides the ecommerce platform that enables us to sell our products online.

Some parts of the website, payment process or other services may be provided by third parties. Their own terms and privacy policies may apply where appropriate.

Purchases made from Amberley Jewellers through this website are contracts between you and Amberley Jewellers, not Shopify.

13. Privacy

We process personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Please see our Privacy Policy for information about how personal information is collected, used and shared when you visit or make a purchase through our website.

14. Liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or your statutory rights in relation to goods.

We are not responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when the contract was formed or for losses resulting from circumstances for which we are not legally responsible.

If you are purchasing as a consumer, we do not exclude or restrict any liability or remedy that cannot legally be excluded or restricted.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the United Kingdom, you may also benefit from any mandatory protections provided by the law applicable where you live.

Nothing in these Terms prevents you from exercising any rights you have regarding where legal proceedings may be brought.

16. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time, for example to reflect changes to our website, business practices or applicable law.

The Terms that apply to your purchase will be those in force when your order is placed.
